VANILLA ICE On Collaboration With NICKO MCBRAIN, DAN SPITZ: 'It's An Honor'
June 29, 2003Chart magazine's Nardwuar caught up with rapper-turned-nu-metaller Vanilla Ice and asked him about his collaboration with IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain and ex-ANTHRAX guitarist Dan Spitz in SEVEN X SEVENTY. "Isn't that hardcore man?" Ice asked. "That's awesome dude. They're my heroes, man. And it's just an honor, y'know. Just working with SOULFLY and SLIPKNOT and all these multi-platinum, multi-talented bands and groups and stuff is just such an honor for me. For them to respect me as a musician as well and to honor me by being on my record with me and I couldn't be more happy."
Currently unsigned, SEVEN X SEVENTY are also said to feature in their ranks Spitz's brother Dave (ex-BLACK SABBATH, LITA FORD, GREAT WHITE) on bass. Former MEGADETH bassist Dave Ellefson, who was previously approached to participate in the project, has since issued a statement denying his involvement in the group.
A SEVEN X SEVENTY track titled "Off The Chain" can be downloaded in MP3 format at this location.
